About WebHostingGuide.net
WebHostingGuide.net is an independent web hosting comparison and review site. Our audience is people who don't read web hosting reviews for fun. They have a project — a blog, a portfolio, an online store, a small business website — and they need a hosting plan that won't waste their first three weekends. We exist to make that decision faster and more honest.
What we cover
- WordPress hosting — managed and unmanaged, every major provider tested.
- Shared hosting — the entry point for most beginners. Yes, it's still a real category in 2026.
- Managed WordPress hosting — Kinsta, WP Engine, Cloudways, Pressable, Flywheel, Nexcess head-to-head.
- Cheap web hosting — Hostinger Premium, DreamHost, Namecheap. Where "cheap" stops being a false economy.
- Web hosting for small business — uptime, support quality, scalability as you grow.
- Ecommerce hosting — WooCommerce on Cloudways, managed WooCommerce, the "do you actually need WordPress" honest take.
How we test
We run our own production WordPress sites on Hostinger and Cloudways. The benchmarks you see in our reviews come from those sites — real PageSpeed Insights scores, real uptime tracking via UptimeRobot, real support ticket response times measured in minutes not in marketing-deck claims.
For providers we don't currently host on (Kinsta, WP Engine, DreamHost, etc.), we maintain trial accounts during review periods and migrate a real WordPress install to test the actual experience. Every review section labeled "Real-world test" came from an actual session, not a vendor brief.
How we rank
We rank by what the user is actually trying to do, not by what pays us most. The cheapest plan that performs is usually better than the brand-name plan that's marked up. When we say a $2.99/mo plan beats a $19.99/mo plan for a specific use case, we mean it.
Affiliate relationships (disclosed)
We earn commissions when readers sign up for hosting services through our links, at no extra cost to the reader. Current relationships:
- Hostinger International — TUNE/HasOffers approved affiliate
- Cloudways — approved publisher partner
- Kinsta — affiliate program
- DreamHost — affiliate program
- Bluehost — affiliate program (when eligibility verified for our region)
- Nexcess — affiliate program
- Liquid Web — affiliate program
We disclose this on every page and never recommend a provider purely because of commission size. See our full disclosure.
What we will not do
- We do not promote providers we don't use ourselves.
- We do not rank providers by commission size.
- We do not recommend SiteGround. (Their affiliate program does not pay our publisher region. We cover them factually because readers expect to see them, but we will not steer readers to a provider where we cannot honestly recommend due to undisclosed commercial gaps. We name this openly rather than burying it.)
- We do not promote "free hosting" services. The category is sketchy and we will not associate our editorial brand with it.
- We do not paywall, gate, or hide our recommendations behind a sign-up form.
- We do not accept paid placement, "sponsored review" arrangements, or sponsored guest posts.
